Summer Avenue DMV Driving Test Routes, TN

Route breakdown

Key roads

• Summer Ave – One of the main roads in the area, up to nine lanes wide with a 40 mph limit. You drive it three times on this loop, about 0.7 miles in all. The left turn onto it is at traffic lights: on a plain green, oncoming traffic has priority, so be ready to wait. Choose your lane early and check your mirrors and blind spot before any lane change. Expect two more sets of traffic lights along it.
• N White Station Rd – A main road linking the neighborhoods, up to five lanes wide. The loop comes back to it one more time, for about 0.9 miles in total. Turning left onto it at the lights, wait for a safe gap in oncoming traffic unless you have a green arrow. With several lanes, settle into the right one early and signal well before moving across. More of the drive is spent here than on any other road.
• Princeton Rd → Leonora Dr – Quieter residential streets, about 0.4 miles in all. Keep your speed down and look out for cars pulling out of driveways.
• Sequoia Rd – A local collector road. This stretch is about 0.3 miles long. The right turn onto it has no traffic lights: creep forward, look left and right, and only go when it is clear.
• N Mendenhall Rd – A main connecting road, up to five lanes wide with a 40 mph limit. This stretch is about 0.4 miles long. With several lanes, settle into the right one early and signal well before moving across.
• Bartlett Rd – A quieter residential street, about 0.4 miles long. Expect parked cars and pedestrians, and give yourself time at each junction.
